Walé Oyéjidé / 2023 / Burkina Faso, Italy / Drama / 64 min / Moore, Italian
Storyteller and designer Walé Oyéjidé makes his debut by inviting us to a poetic story of a boy from Burkina Faso who flees his village and migrates to Italy. Haunted by memories of his home, he travels through time in hopes of regaining all what he has lost. Through the eyes of a child who leaves his home, we see the emotional chasms that can be left behind when people migrate to distant lands. For an hour, we step into a dreamlike and mystical journey that explores the meaning of existing in two states – both coming and going, running away and running toward.
Walé Oyéjidé’s clothing brand, Ikiré Jones, uses fashion to shed light on perspectives from marginalized people. His designs can be found in major films like “Black Panther 2” and “Coming 2 America,” as well as in museums around the world.
The movie will be shown at the opening of the festival and on the 29/10 in Bio Rio.
