Jonelle Twum / 2023 / Sweden, Ghana / Documentary / 9 min / English
Award-winning filmmaker Jonelle Twum presents a lyrical portrait of a woman who, after a wedding in Ghana in the 1990s, embarks on a journey across the sea. Archival footage and new images take us on an emotional journey where silence is contrasted with dreams of a future in Europe.
Jonelle Twum often explores issues of invisibility/visibility, memories, and storytelling from a black feminist perspective. She is the founder of Black Archives Sweden, a contemporary archive based on the experiences of Afro-Swedes.
