In the Tunisian region of Kasra’s fig orchards, we spend a day with a group of summer workers, primarily women. As the baskets fill with the sweet fruits and the shadows lENGthen under the trees, secrets, gossip, friendship, quarrels, romantic flirtations, and conflicts between an unyielding reality and progressive ideas unfold. Should a woman choose sisterly solidarity or the prestige and benefits she can gain in her relationship with a man? Photographer Frida Marzouk magically captures the warm natural light, and the dialogue is so intimate and natural that it often seems improvised. The award-winning director Erige Sehiri developed her first feature film in close collaboration with the untrained actors.
